HELSINKI CENTRAL LIBRARY
In collaboration with FIRM a.d.
A proposal for a new central library for the city of Helsinki, Finland. The Library’s program is a mix of a reading collection, learning spaces, and public event areas. The project developed through an aggregation of dodecahedrons that are stacked to allow for vertical voids that serve as both visual and physical connections to the diverse program. The geometry allowed for a glazing strategy that was acclimated to orientation optimizing natural light while maintaining high insulating values.
